Please Note:
If you start a new topic then depending on your status there will be a number of options at the bottom of the topic thread. These may include:
(Click HERE to start/stop receiving emails when someone replies to your topic.) - You can work that one out yourself.
(Click HERE to Close/Open Thread.) - Stop/Allow further replies to this topic.
Smilies are keyboard characters used to convey an emotion, such
as a smile or
be sad .
On the livegigguide boards you may insert your chosen Smiley into your posting by inserting it anywhere within you text
i.e. :) for a smile Smiley.
You can easily add a hyperlink to your message.
To do so place ""
Then put some text for this link and finish of with ""
For Example:
go to livegigguide
You may alter your Message Board Profile by returning to the Message Center menu page and clicking on MB Profile next to your Alias. You may change any items (including your avatar) other than your Alias and number of posts.
Please Note:
Your Signature or personal footer can be a little bit of text with maybe a quote and a sign off.
When you post a Topic starter message or a reply you have the option of ticking a box whick will automatically insert your Signature or personal footer a the bottom of that post.
You may edit or delete your own posts at any time. Just go to the topic where
the post to be edited is located and you will see an edit icon () .
Click on this icon to edit.
Alternatively click the delete icon () to delete the post.
No one else can edit or delete your post, except for moderators or livegigguide bods (but only if we have to).
A note is put at the bottom of each post that is edited so that every one knows when a post has
been edited and by whom (you have the power to remove this if you really want to).
Sometimes, depending on a posters profile, you may see other icons on a post.
These are:
An Email icon () which you can click to send the poster an email (this is only shown if the poster chooses to make the address available via the Message Board Profile option).
A Homepage icon () which you can click to go to that Members Home page (again this is only shown if the poster chooses to make his or her Home page address available via the Message Board Profile option).
An ICQ icon () which you can click to send the poster an ICQ (again this is only shown if the poster chooses to make an ICQ number available via the Message Board Profile option).
A Private Message icon () which you can click to send the poster a private message via our personal message system (this is only shown if the poster chooses to allow incoming private messages, via the Private Message System preferences).
And, if the topic is open, a Quote this Author icon () which when you click allows you to post a reply which includes a quote from the posters message.
You may also note that after these icons, you also have options to (Post) a reply, and go to the (Top) and (Bottom) of the thread.
To the left of each post is a box with a posters Avatar, Alias, whether they are online or not, and Reward points.
Avatar - An Avatar is a graphical representation of you!
It can be anything you wish - an extension of your personality, or just somthing cool that you created.
Within your board profile you can pick from a selection of standard ones, or if you wish to stand out then just email us one of your own making. This should be a .gif file (plain or animated) no bigger than 50pix by 50 pix.
Alias - Generally wherever you see your own or another members Alias (alternative name), you can click on it to see a popup information box with further profile details regarding that person.
Online? - Below the alias, you can tell whether the member is online (logged in and looking at the website) or not, which can be useful if you wish to send them a private message or an ICQ.
Posting Reward points - Reward points come in the form of graphical symbols which you can gain as follows:
You may search for posts based on a word or words found in the posts,
user Alias, date, and particular Board.
Just click on (Search all Boards) button at the header or footer of the discussion table.
You may also find any particular word within a topic while on that topics page by typing what you are looking for in the "find" text box at the top of the topic thread.
Topic Selector page -
In order to sort information within the Topic Selector page you have the ability to select how many days old displayed Topics are, and, if you click on the table titles (i.e Status, Last post, Replies, Author etc) you can sort the Topics according to those fields in an ascending or descending order.
Topic page -
For the Topic Page you are able to select how many replies you wish to view per page.
N.B -
There are jump menus at the bottom of the Topic Selector (to jump to other boards), and at the bottom of the Topic Thread (to jump to other Topics).
Certain (profane) words that may be posted are automatically censored and replaced with asterisks. That said censoring only tries to replace certain words by their order of letters, so some perfectly harmless words may be hit by the censoring string. Sorry about this!
Being creative with your profanities to get around the censor is not big, funny, or clever. Ok, maybe its funny, but just dont anyway eh.
Our boards are free to use and are therefore open to abuse. As such, please post topics and replies with a concern for the feelings of others.
The use of an offensive Alias or the continued posting of offensive material will result in the poster losing membership status, and all posts relating to that user will be deleted.
